  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • eggs yolks plus water to equal 1 cup, reserve 1 egg white
  • ICING/FROSTING
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or light cream (approximately)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make my grandma’s apple strudel

  • Apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon combined in a bowl.Step 1Mix apple slices, sugar, 1/2 cup flour and 1 tsp cinnamon for the filling. Set aside.
  • Pie crust ingredients mixed together.Step 2Mix the remaining ingredients for pie crust, reserving 1 egg white.
  • Dough divided into two pieces.Step 3Divide dough in two pieces.
  • Half of the dough rolled out into a pan.Step 4Roll out 1/2 of the dough to fit a 10×15 inch jelly roll pan with sides.
  • Pouring apples onto the dough.Step 5Cover with apple mixture.
  • Second piece of crust placed on top of the apples.Step 6Roll out top crust. Cover with top crust.
