This cozy, comforting dish is the definition of easy home cooking. Tender chicken, rich broth, and soft noodles come together in a creamy, hearty meal that feels like a warm hug in a bowl. Perfect for busy days, this slow cooker recipe does all the work for you.
Ingredients
1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs
4 cups chicken broth
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups egg noodles (uncooked)
1/2 cup heavy cream or milk (optional, for extra creaminess)
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Place the chicken in the bottom of the slow cooker. Pour in the chicken broth and add the cream of chicken soup.
Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the butter on top.
Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. The meat should pull apart easily.
Return the shredded chicken back into the slow cooker and stir well to combine with the broth.
Add the uncooked egg noodles directly into the slow cooker. Stir to make sure the noodles are submerged in the liquid.
Cover and cook on high for another 20 to 30 minutes, or until the noodles are tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
If you want a creamier texture, stir in the heavy cream or milk during the last few minutes of cooking.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Let the dish sit for about 5 minutes before serving to allow it to thicken slightly.
